Children that attend one of the Westwood YMCA’s summer camps will get to enjoy innovative programming in a beautiful setting that consists of 80 acres of heavily wooded land preserved for camping and hiking and the expansive and pristine Quidnick Reservoir used for activities such as swimming, fishing and boating.

The day camps are ideal for children age 5 and up. Free transportation is offered for children residing in Coventry, Exeter, West Greenwich, West Warwick and Sterling, CT. Camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there is complimentary pre-camp child care, starting at 6:30 a.m., and post-camp care, ending at 6 p.m. Camps are available for members and non-members. Families can apply for financial assistance and sibling discounts.

Camp Rainbow is for children entering kindergarten through grade 2. Campers learn about healthy lifestyles and engage in activities to increase their social, emotional and physical development.

Camp Exploration is for children entering grades 3 to 5, who learn new skills such as boating and archery while improving their swimming ability with daily lessons.

A specific sport is covered each week, and experienced instructors work with participants in the morning to improve their skills. In the afternoon, campers enjoy traditional activities such as swimming and boating. There is a weekly activity fee.

Children entering grades 3 to 8 can experience self-expression at a specialty camp. The specialty is addressed the first half of each day, and campers participate in traditional activities for the rest of the day.
